Students’ rights to adequate rent restored

In Moscow, the head office of one of the universities had unreasonably increased the rent price for residence halls. After the Commissioner’s Office had stepped in, all due payment agreement procedures were held in accordance with the law and the rent price was reviewed.

Request of disabled person granted

Ms P addressed the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia with a request to facilitate transfer of her convicted son from one of the correctional facilities of the Federal Penitentiary Service Directorate in Russia in Vladimir Region to serve his sentence closer to her residence in Kostroma region, since she suffered from a number of serious diseases and was a disabled person of the first category.

Award recognised

In March 2014, following the petition of the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, the Ministry of Social Protection of Krasnodar Territory added the badge ‘Winner of the Socialist Competition 1976’ to the list of ministerial decorations for labour achievements provided by the Law of Krasnodar Territory No. 1069-KZ as of July 28, 2006. On the grounds of this decision the rank of labour veteran was conferred on the complainant.

Elderly and disabled to find home

In March 2014, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia sped up the solution of housing problem of the elderly and disabled people from a health care facility in Novosibirsk region, which had been closed earlier. The decision to issue vouchers to other nursing homes was made by the Ministry of Social Development of Novosibirsk Region after the Commissioner’s appeal.
