On 24 September, High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova spoke at the parliament hearings in the State Duma Committee for Natural Resources, Nature Management and Environmental Protection on the subject of ‘Pressing Problems of Legal Regulation, Recreation, Tourism Development, Forest Retreats, and Ensuring Public Access to Forest Use’.

On 23 September, the judging panel announced the sculptor Georgy Frangulyan’s project 'The Wall of Grief' to be the winner of the contest in creating a monument to victims of political repressions.
