The President of the Russian Federation addressed the participants of the V International Conference

Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation addressed the participants of the V International Conference “Human rights protection in Eurasia: exchange of best practices of ombudspersons”.

Dear colleagues!

I am pleased to greet you on the occasion of the opening of the V International Conference on human rights protection in the Eurasian region.

It is worth noting that despite the limitations imposed by the coronavirus pandemic, you have continued a much-needed multilateral dialogue involving national ombudspersons, representatives of government agencies, and the scientific and expert community.

This year, the conference agenda includes two very relevant topics: the rights of persons with disabilities and environmental human rights.

You will examine ways to improve the legislative framework and law enforcement practices to remove any barriers to the participation of people with disabilities in society, and to ensure the effective protection of the environment and the safest possible use of natural resources.

I am confident that you will share your expertise, hold constructive and informative discussions, and that your ideas and initiatives will serve to protect the rights and interests of the citizens of our nations.

I wish you successful work and all the best.

Vladimir Putin
