09 June 2015

Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court has confirmed the decision to sentence blogger Raif Badawi to 1,000 lashes and 10 years of imprisonment.
Doctors fear that the young man will not survive the flogging.
On 7 May 2014, Jeddah's Criminal Court sentenced Raif Badawi to 10 years in prison, 1,000 lashes and a fine of 1 million Saudi riyals for setting up a liberal website for public discussion. The Supreme Court upheld the sentence, despite the international human rights organisations campaign calling for his release.
