Russian Commissioner joined International Ombudsman Institute

The Institution of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation has been admitted to the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) as a Voting member.
The positive decision regarding the High Commissioner’s application for IOI Voting membership was accepted by the IOI Board of Directors at its last meeting.
A preliminary agreement on the Russian membership was reached in February 2019 during a meeting between Tatiana Moskalkova and IOI President Peter Tyndall.
According to the High Commissioner, such cooperation will allow the exchange of best human rights practices.
The International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), established in 1978, is the only global organization for the cooperation of about 200 independent Ombudsman institutions from more than 100 countries worldwide. The IOI is organised in six regional chapters (Africa, Asia, Australia & Pacific, Europe, the Caribbean & Latin America and North America).
The IOI supports its members in a threefold way: training, research and assistance for projects.
