An OSCE-supported training seminar on data journalism for some 15 journalists from across Kazakhstan was held 22–23 August in Astana.
"Effective and responsible use of open data is a key skill for journalists in the contribution they make to public oversight over government activities, especially in the context of the OSCE-supported Law on Access to Information," said Sara Bonotti, Human Dimension Officer of the OSCE Programme Office.
The two-day event was co-organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Astana in co-operation with the Information and Communication Ministry, the National Information Technologies Joint Stock Company and Internews Kazakhstan with the aim of providing journalists with a deeper understanding of open data sources, data visualization principles, data-journalism and data-processing methods.
