Hungary to fence off border with Serbia to stop migrants

Hungary plans to build a fence along its border with Serbia to stem the flow of migrants, BBC reported.

Hungary's Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto announced the plan, saying the wall would run the length of the 175 km border between the countries.

He said Hungary could not wait for the EU to find a solution to the illegal immigration.

Serbia's Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic has said he is "shocked" by the plan of Hungary's authorities. “Nobody builds walls in a modern world you know…,” Vucic added.

The Hungarian government said about 54,000 migrants entered the country so far this year, compared to 43,000 people in 2014.
