High Commissioner is up for receiving complaints from citizens of Iran

In accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed on December 7 by High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova and President of General Inspection Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran Naser Seraj, the parties expressed their readiness to receive and consider applications from citizens of another country party to the agreement.

This means that now Iranian citizens residing in the territory of the Russian Federation can apply to the High Commissioner’s Office with a complaint about violations of their rights by Russian state authorities. In this case, the applicants must send copies of the appeals to the General Inspection Organization of Iran.

In turn, Russian citizens residing in Iran can apply to the General Inspection Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Copies of statements must also be sent to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation.

Detailed information on how and to which address a citizen should send his/her appeal will be posted on the websites of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Moscow.
