Conference “Taking action to improve women’s participation in public and political decision making” held in Sochi

In the framework of the joint project of the Council of Europe, the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation «Co-operation on the implementation of the Russian Federation National Action Strategy for Women (2017–2022)» a conference «Actions to promote the participation of women in public and political decision-making processes» is held in Sochi.

The first day of the event is dedicated to the state of affairs in this field in Russia and in Europe. At the morning plenary session, participants got acquainted with the results of a study presented by a group of national and international experts. In the afternoon, participants discussed specific chapters of the study, relevant findings and their possible practical implementation. The results of the discussions held in the working groups will be presented during the third plenary session. The closing plenary session of the first day will be devoted to one of the research topics.

The organizers of the project, as well as deputies of the State Duma and members of political parties, Russian media, representatives of regional and local legislative bodies and civil society, national and international experts take part in the conference.
