Supreme Court to listen to convict

The Supreme Court of Udmurtia’s panel admitted the arguments presented by the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia concerning review of an appellate complaint from convict Mr Zh in connection with the procedural order breach sufficient. The fact that the complainant’s rights have been restored became known on 13 February from the official reply of the republic’s supreme court body in response to the Commissioner’s request.
The Commissioner’s letter of appeal stated that the situation when the convict was deprived of his legal right to participate in the court session (despite the fact that he had preliminary asked to take part in it) resulted in the infringement of the guaranteed access to justice. By resolution of the Supreme Court Panel as of 30 January 2015, the materials in the case are to be reconsidered to let Mr Zh participate in the court session.
