Ill child received medical care

03 March 2015

The Ministry of Healthcare reported that the seriously ill child Yaroslav M. had been put into hospital on 18 February and is currently undergoing the planned treatment at the Russian Scientific Centre of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.

On 12 February, Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia Ella Pamfilova sent a telegram to Minister of Healthcare of Russia Veronika Skvortsova, having expressed her concern over the delayed hospitalisation of the seriously ill child.

Ms Pamfilova also underlined the system-wide character of the problem faced by the family of the child. According to the Commissioner, this is not the only case when parents of seriously ill children face their misfortune one-on-one, having failed to wait until the state provides the competent medical aid in time.

Previously, mother of the boy applied to the Commissioner for assistance in enforcement of her son’s right to medical care.
