High Commissioner defended the rights of citizens to an accessible environment
High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova was approached by a citizen G. with a request for assistance in resolving the issue of installing a folding ramp for baby strollers in the entrance of the building.
According to the woman, she applied to the competent authorities, but the request was refused and she was recommended to hold a general meeting of the owners of the premises in the apartment building. However, for the applicant awaiting the birth of twins, the organization of the general meeting was difficult.
Taking into account the circumstances above, the High Commissioner sent an appeal to the District Council of the Konkovo district of Moscow. As a result, a folding ramp was installed in this residential building.
