Errors in suspect’s letter of reference corrected
With assistance of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia gross errors in a suspect’s letter of reference were corrected. An explanatory work was conducted in order to prevent the same situations.
Detained person H. held in Pretrial Detention Centre No. 1 of the Primorye Territory General Department of the FPS of Russia petitioned the High Commissioner. He reported that the testimonial letter he had been provided with contained errors, including incorrect personal data.
Understanding all the potential legal consequences, the High Commissioner appealed to the Primorye Territory General Department of the FPS of Russia with a request to provide the petitioner with a new testimonial.
After an inspection the Department prepared a new letter of reference, and also held additional lectures for the stuffers in order to prevent such situations in future.
