Criminal case launched — right to justice restored
With the assistance of the Commissioner for Human Rights, in December 2014, following fraud against complainant N., Investigation Directorate of the Russian MIA’s Department in Dmitrovskiy District of Moscow Region launched a criminal investigation.
In May 2012, unidentified persons forged property documents of the victim N. Then, her parcel of land with a banya (bathhouse) on it was sold. The victim managed to have the transaction acknowledged null and void in court. The court ascertained that signatures in the purchase and sale documents had been forged. However, a criminal investigation into the fraud had not been opened after the court decision.
Following the application of the victim, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation addressed the Prosecutor’s Office of Moscow Region with a petition to restore the victim’s right to justice and to initiate thorough inspection of the case.
At present, all necessary investigative operations are in progress. The Prosecutor’s Office of Moscow Region took the investigation under its control.
