After the interference of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia convict A. has been transferred from Murmansk Region to a correctional facility in another region due to the health condition.

The High Commissioner was petitioned by relatives of convicted II category disabled person serving his sentence in a correctional facility of the Murmansk Region Department of the FPS of Russia. They asked for assistance in transferring the convict to another region, since he suffered from bronchial asthma and several diseases worsening in the cold and damp climate of Murmansk Region.

An initiated inspection had confirmed that the convict had suffered from a number of diseases classified as contraindication to serving sentence in northern regions, the Department of the FPS of Russia reported in the reply to the High Commissioner’s petition. It was decided to transfer convict A. to a constituent entity of the Russian Federation with a mild climate.
