Lyudmila Lubina: Talks about Russia infringing someones’ rights in Crimea are complete nonsense
A year after reunion of Crimea with Russia, the human rights situation in the region is still worse than as compared to that one in the country in total, but changes for the better are obvious. In an interview for Interfax journalist Dmitry Zhmutsky, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Crimea Lyudmila Lubina told about observation of the rights of the Crimeans who refused from Russian citizenship, the ones who came back from deportation, and those who serve sentence in the republic.

On 3 April, an annual round table entitled ‘The Problems of Professional Education of Lawyers’ took place at Kutafin Moscow State Law University in the framework of the 9th Legal Career Day Exhibition and Forum.
Inaccessible railway station
People with disabilities are to defend their right to unhindered access to a suburban railway station. The application has been supported by Commissioner for Human Rights in Chelyabinsk Region Alexey Sevastyanov, while the regional transport prosecutor’s office filed a lawsuit against the new station in Chelyabinsk.

Issue of passports to convicts discussed in Krasnodar
On 25 March, a round table entitled ‘The Issue of Passports to Convicts: Problems and Solutions’ took place in Krasnodar on the initiative of the regional human rights commissioner Sergey Myshak. Representatives of law enforcement agencies, regional authorities, human rights defenders and representatives of non-commercial organisations took part in the discussion.
Combatting extremism discussed in Vladimir city
On 24 March, Vladimir city hosted an academic and research conference devoted to the combating extremism in Russia. Representatives of different authorities from 20 regions of Russia, including Chechnya, Karelia and Crimea took part in the event.

Kargin: Trans-Baikal teachers’ refusal to work is entirely within the law
On 23 March, Commissioner for Human Rights in Trans-Baikal Territory Nikolay Kargin in his interview for Zabmedia commented on the situation of delay in payment of social benefits and salary to public-sector employees in the region. The commissioner noted that the interruption in the work of teachers in Trans-Baikal territory due to the delay of such payments was legitimate.
