On 10 July, Commissioner for Human Rights Tatiana Merzlyakova met with a delegation of China to discuss the human rights situation in Russia and the PRC.

For the first six months Commissioner for Human Rights in Tomsk Region Elena Kartashova received 706 complaints. For the same period last year 663 complaints were registered by the Commissioner’s Office.

Recommendations given by Commissioner for Human Rights in Ivanovo Region Natalia Kovaleva following the visit to the Correctional Facility No. 2 in Talitsy Village were taken for implementation by the facility’s administration.

Within the framework of a cooperation agreement, some students of the Novosibirsk Institute of Law (a branch of Tomsk State University) will take an internship at the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights in Novosibirsk Region.

On 9 July, deputies of the Legislative Assembly of Omsk Region appointed Viktor Lokhichev the regional human rights commissioner.

On 7 July, on the initiative of the regional Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Krutilina, the Chamber of Justice and Public Control held a roundtable on current problems in protection of mentally ill patients’ rights in Ulyanovsk Region.

On 8 July, the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan voted for appointment of Saria Saburskaya as the republic's Commissioner for Human Rights for the next five years. 

At the latest session of the People’s Khural (a state legislative authority in Buryatia), the deputies made amendments to the republic’s law On the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Buryatia.

On 6 July, Commissioner for Human Rights in Lipetsk Region Nikolay Zagnoyko visited the Correctional Facility No. 3 in Elets Town.

With Sverdlovsk Region Commissioner for Human Rights Tatiana Merzlyakova’s multiple appeals to the regional government, a section for residence and medical treatment of children with mental and physical disabilities was opened in Ekaterinburg Residential Care Home for Disabled Children.
