Human Rights Day has been celebrated all over the world on 10 December since 1950.
Winners of Human Rights 2015 competition named in Saint Petersburg
On 9 December, in anticipation of Human Rights Day, the ceremony of awarding the winners of St. Petersburg Human Rights 2015 competition among students took place in the State Museum of Political History of Russia.
Irkutsk Commissioner suggested draft law on local budget be improved
Commissioner for Human Rights in Irkutsk Region Valeriy Lukin suggested the draft law on the region’s budget 2016 be improved. According to him, the version adopted in the first reading at the session of the Legislative Assembly on 25 November is not in full compliance with the budget legislation.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities
International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) has been commemorated on 3 December since 1992 to promote action to raise awareness about disability issues. A regular release of ‘Human Rights’ programme broadcast on the Public Television of Russia channel (OTR) that day was devoted to the protection of rights of the disabled.
Novosibirsk Commissioner held open office hours for public in Moshkovsky District
On 1 December, Commissioner for Human Rights in Novosibirsk Region Nina Shalabayeva was on a working trip in Moshkovsky Distirict. During the trip she held open office hours for public, met the Head of the Region and visited the Uspensky Neuropsychiatric Residential Facility.

Arkhangelsk Commissioner and State Traffic Safety Inspectorate holding Disabled Person campaign
From 28 November to 10 December, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Arkhangelsk Region together with the Regional Department of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (STSI) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation have been holding a campaign called ‘The Disabled’.
Purchase of poor quality housing for orphans in Irkutsk Region to be investigated
Following the request of Commissioner for Human Rights in Irkutsk Region Valery Lukin, deputies of the local Legislative Assembly are to conduct an investigation into the purchase by the regional Ministry of Property Relations of poor quality housing for orphans.
