Commissioner for Human Rights in Leningrad Region Sergey Shabanov managed to solve the issue of providing gravely ill convict M. with competent medical assistance within two weeks. Before that, M. had been being almost helpless for four months, the Press Service of the regional ombudsman reported on 2 December.
On 1 December, Deputy Head of Chancery of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia Ivan Soloviev participated in a regular release of the ‘Hunam Rights’ programme on the Public Television of Russia (OTR). Protection of the victims’ rights was the topic discussed.

The Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) helped a citizen to prove his case. The court found that the complainant had been illegally placed and held in a psychiatric hospital.
After the interference of Commissioner for Human Rights in Novosibirsk Region Nina Shalabaeva the right of a citizen to medical assistance has been restored. The revealed violations will be eliminated in the near future.
Complainant Y. managed to obtain citizenship of the Russian Federation only after the Commissioner for Human Rights in Kaluga Region had petitioned the regional Department of the MIA of Russia.
