On 1 July, a meeting devoted to the outcomes of the work of the Commissioner for human rights in the Republic of Tatarstan and public assistants of the Commissioner in the first half of 2016 took place. Sariya Saburskaya thanked the public assistants for the efficient work, promt response to citizens' complaints, and participation in the public life of the Republic.
According to Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Tatarstan Sariya Saburskaya, from January to June, the Office of the Commissioner received 1,751 appeals. Moreover, citizens petitioned not only the Commissioner herself, but her public assistants as well. The greatest number of appeals per half a year (more than 30) was submitted to the public assistants in the Aznakaevsky, Buinsky, Arsky, Laishevsky, Leninogorsky, Nizhnekamsky, Pestrechinsky districts.
Public assistants not only work with appeals of citizens during open office hours, but also organise a variety of legal education activities that contribute to a fuller observance of rights and freedoms in the Republic of Tatarstan.
