On 2–3 June, Commissioner for Human Rights in Sverdlovsk Region Tatiana Merzlyakova will address the IV Intersectoral Forum of Industrialists, Industrial Waste Processors and Suppliers of Technology ‘Ural Market of Scrap and Industrial Wastes’ in Ekaterinburg with a report devoted to a role of civil society in resolving ecological conflicts.

The Forum is devoted to the forthcoming Year of Ecology in Russia. Participants in the event will discuss processing of secondary sources — a perspective direction of economic development reducing environmental impact. Considering the crucial role of metallurgical industry in the Urals, processing of industrial wastes of the metallurgical complex will be the key point of the event’s programme.

Within the framework of the Forum, a presentation of non-governmental partnership ‘Ural Environmental Initiative’ created with the assistance of the Commissioner for Human Rights will take place. From 150 to 200 delegates from the Ural Federal District and other regions of Russia are expected to visit the Forum.
