Sverdlovsk Commissioner got elected Member of European Ombudsman Institute’s Board sixth time
On 21 September, Commissioner for Human Rights in Sverdlovsk Region took part in the general meeting of the European Ombudsman Institute (EOI) held in Mainz, Germany.
The Commissioner acted for Russian members of the Board. "Russian ombudsmen are treated well. And the meeting was held in a welcoming environment," Ms Merzlyakova said.
As a result of the meeting a new President and board members of the EOI were elected for another term.
Tatiana Merzlyakova, being one of the most experienced human rights defenders in the EOI, was elected into the Board sixth time.
The European Ombudsman Institute is an authoritative organisation founded in 1982 as an academic community. In 1988 it received the status of an international public organisation.
