During a working visit of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Altai Territory to Shipunovsky District, deputy of the district Council of Deputies Svetlana Senina applied for his help on behalf of residents of several villages.

The woman said that for months the only highway connecting several villages with the district center had been broken by multi-ton trucks daily running between the quarry and the construction site.

Residents of the district while driving over damaged sections of the road are forced to take risks and make dangerous maneuvers bypassing the ruts squeezed by trucks and large potholes in the asphalt.

Following a request from the regional human rights defender to the Minister of Transport of the Altai Territory in order to ensure road safety on the highway indicated in the applicant’s appeal, a weight control point was established and work was done to eliminate the rutting.

Now the residents of the Shipunovsky district can safely reach the social, cultural and medical institutions located in the district center.
