Public observation over Uniform State Exam in Ekaterinburg
A representative of the Commissioner for Human Rights in Sverdlovsk Region attended three leaving examinations in Ekaterinburg in the capacity of a public observer. There were no violation of children’s rights, but Natalia Ulyanova is concerned about episodes of excessive control.
According to teachers and parents of children, organizers of the exam display unnecessary vigilance. They check children for prohibited objects too rigorously. The Commissioner’s representative thinks it is necessary to believe in rationality and honesty of school leavers, because groundless suspicions have a bad impact on the children’s morale at the exam.
For reference: a public observer can attend all stages of the State Final Examination, if he or she shows his or her identity card and certificate of a public observer.
