Commissioner for Human Rights in Primorye Territory Valeriy Rozov and Head of the regional General Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service Oleg Simchenkov signed a new Agreement on Basic Forms of Interaction and Cooperation for Implementation and Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms in the Penitentiary System.

The parties are to cooperate by exchange of information, conducting working meetings to discuss crucial issues. In addition, joint inspections, human rights education for prisoners, as well as consideration of the issues of penitentiary officers’ rights are to take place as part of the agreement.

Mr Rozov noted that the agreement was a consecutive serious step to consolidate interaction and cooperation to protect human rights and freedoms in the penitentiary system.
