On December 7, under the auspices of Commissioner for Human Rights in the Ivanovo Region Natalia Kovaleva a human rights environmental forum «On the Right of Citizens to a Favourable Environment» was held.

The meeting was attended by heads of enterprises and organizations, representatives of governing authorities, human rights defenders, scientists and experts.

In her opening remarks, Natalia Kovaleva noted that complaints about environmental rights are being given special attention. Citizens' appeals relate to environmental pollution by economic entities, drinking water quality, cutting down trees and bushes before the construction of settlements, providing reliable information about the state of environment, and such complaints are often collective ones.

At the human rights environmental forum, a constructive discussion took place on systemic and most vulnerable problems in the observance of the environmental rights of citizens, during which recommendations to state bodies and local self-government bodies were made.
