Novosibirsk Commissioner visited temporary accommodation centre for migrants

On 10 August, Commissioner for Human Rights in Novosibirsk Region Nina Shalabaeva visited the Special Temporary Accommodation Centre for Aliens (SUVSIG), the Novosibirsk Region Directorate of the Federal Migration Service of Russia.

During the inspection, the Commissioner revealed that the authorities failed to implement court decisions on deportation of aliens from Russia. In this regard, Ms Shalabaeva is to submit an appeal to the Novosibirsk Region Prosecutor’s Office to have the matter resolved within her mandate.

No any infringements related to detention conditions were found out as a result of the inspection.

At present, the centre contains 72 citizens of Azerbaijan, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
