Thanks to the assistance of Commissioner for Human Rights in the Region of Novosibirsk Nina Shalabaeva, the justice in respect to an elderly woman was restored.

On behalf of his wife, citizen v. appealed to the Commissioner for the preferential provision of medicines.

According to the applicant, after surgery, his wife had been in critical condition and, in accordance with clinical report, she was in need of medicines. The applicant is a pensioner, he does not work and has no possibility to buy medicines since his wife needs constant care. Formerly, citizen v. had addressed to the administration of the medical department but there was no answer.

Having attentively examined the appeal, Nina Shalabaeva addressed a request to the Ministry of Health of the Novosibirsk Region.

According to the received answer, a letter on the necessity to take appropriate measures in order to exclude the violation of his and his wife’s rights was directed to the Chief Doctor of the medical department where the applicant had addressed. Besides, that letter concerned the strengthening of control over the further medical assistance.

Thus, the elderly woman received necessary medicines only after the application of the Commissioner.
