Novosibirsk Commissioner presented Human Rights Observance Report 2016

On April 26, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Novosibirsk Region Nina Shalabaeva presented before regional parliamentarians a report on the observance of human rights and freedoms in 2016.

According to Nina Shalabaeva, 2340 applications were considered by the Ombudsman’s Office in 2016. Most of the complaints concerned social issues, in particular, realization of housing rights and violations in the housing and utilities sector.

Furthermore, the regional ombudsman emphasized that the number of applications received from foreign states increased by 7%.

In conclusion, the Commissioner expressed her hope for further effective work with authorities of different levels.
