Last week, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Pskov Region Dmitry Shakhov took part in a meeting of the Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights (HRC).
In his speech, Dmitry Shakhov spoke about the functioning of the state human rights institution in the subject of the country and on a unified methodology for assessing the state of human rights observance in the Russian Federation and its subjects, having paid particular attention to the interactive Human Rights Map of Russia placed on the website of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation.
In the afternoon, the members of the HRC held three round tables: on the observance of the social rights of the subject’s residents, on the observance of human rights in places of detention and on the participation of citizens in the preservation of cultural heritage.
In addition, human rights defenders met with representatives of the judiciary community, heads of NGOs, veterans and representatives of the small indigenous minority Setu.
