Meeting of Human Rights Council held in Ulyanovsk

On February 6, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Ulyanovsk Region Lyudmila Krutilina took part in a meeting of the Council on the development of civil society and human rights under the Governor of the Ulyanovsk Region.
In her speech, Lyudmila Krutilina noted that following the results of the monitoring of complaints for 2018, residents of the region prioritize social rights associated with the realization of housing rights and the right to medical and social security. In connection with the pension reform, the number of appeals on the issue of pension provision has doubled. There has been an increase in complaints about the protection of labor rights, which concerned in most cases
The main objectives of the Strategy are:
— improving the quality of life of people and the level of social equity;
— the implementation of systemic and effective state mechanisms to protect constitutional rights and freedoms, strengthening confidence in state power;
— creating conditions that provide citizens and associations the opportunity to exercise their rights;
— strengthening of civil society institutions involved in human rights activities in the territory of the Ulyanovsk Region.
The majority decided the draft Strategy to be taken as a basis and further discussed.
