Last week the II International Humanitarian Forum «Civil Initiatives of Regions of the 60th Parallel» was held in Khanty-Mansiysk.

The large scale event brought together representatives of the expert community of 16 regions of the country from Kaliningrad to the Kamchatka Territory, as well as international experts from 10 countries.

Commissioner for Human Rights in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area-Yugra Natalia Strebkova served as an expert on the discussion platform «Up-to-date social technologies in solving problems of people with disabilities».

As Natalia Strebkova noted at the opening ceremony, the role of civil initiatives in realizing a set of essentials of life in various spheres of human activity was obvious.

"For me, as a human rights defender, it is important that as many projects as possible are directed at realizing human rights and protecting human dignity, developing human rights education and creating legal awareness, trust, cooperation and solidarity in organizing a society that contributes to improving their quality of life," the regional Commissioner emphasized.

The purpose of the Forum is to promote the development of civil society and the formation of a unique international humanitarian platform for science-practice interaction on issues of citizen participation in the development of the Arctic and the North regions.
