"I can say with certainty that the human rights commissioner’s institute in the Tatarstan Republic proved its high demand and consistency testified by the steady confidence level among residents of the republic", President of the Tatarstan Republic Rustam Minnikhanov said.

Many results have been achieved on the way of restoration of human rights and affirmation of justice in everyday life for the fifteen years. In 2012 the position of commissioner for children’s rights was established in Tatarstan along with the institute of entrepreneur’s rights protection in 2013. With the assistance of the local human rights commissioner the International Human Rights master’s programme was launched at Kazan Federal University. The Public Control State Information System moderated by the Tatarstan’s commissioner since 2013 has also been proved successful.

For reference: the Tatarstan Republic’s Law On the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Tatarstan was adopted on 3 March 2000. The commissioner’s position was established in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic to consolidate the guarantees of state protection of human and civil rights and freedoms, to facilitate their observance and respect by state authorities, local self-government bodies and officials.
