The Commissioner for Human Rights in Saratov Region Tatiana Zhurik initiated the creation of a hotline on environmental issues.

The information received by the regional commissioner’s office is forwarded to local government authorities, which, in turn, carry out further work with citizens' appeals.

In particular, on the basis of applications received from the residents of Sokolovyi, Sosnovka and Ust-Kurdyum villages, the administration of municipal entities carries out work to eliminate unauthorized landfills, picking up garbage and improving inhabited localities and forest belts.

It is worth recalling that 2017 is declared in Russia as the Year of Ecology and Specially Protected Natural Territories. In the report of the Commissioner for Human Rights in Saratov Region for 2016, issues of improving inhabited localities, eliminating landfills and homeless animals trapping remain relevant for most residents of the region.
