On 2 April, Commissioner for Human Rights in Vladimir Region Lyudmila Romanova presented her first report on human rights to the Governor.
Having mentioned a range of problems taking place in the region, Ms Romanova underlined the issues of employment and social benefits to employees (i.e. due payroll payments) amid the economic crisis.
The regional commissioner also emphasised the need to involve public human rights defenders: "In each municipal territorial entity, we need a public volunteer assisting to the human rights commissioner that is why consolidation of the regional commissioner’s institute is to be continued to create an integral legal assistance and protection platform."
Governor Svetlana Orlova has supported the human rights commissioner’s proposals and suggested to elaborate a plan of joint measures to improve the human rights legislation.
