On April 20, the Commissioner for Human Rights in St. Petersburg Alexander Shishlov took part in the extended session of the city call-up commission.

Speaking before the members of the city call-up commission, Alexander Shishlov noted the importance of the draftees’ rights observance in the course of their military service.

Also, the regional ombudsman outlined that in 2016 there had been an increase in the number of appeals against violations of draftees’ rights, in particular, against the refusals of military registration and enlistment offices to get acknowledged with personal data files by the way of copying as well as against inappropriate conduction of medical certification.

In conclusion, Alexander Shishlov expressed his hope of the possibility to ensure the more effective protection of draftees’ rights that could be reached through the cooperation of the Commissioner Office and the call-up commissions’ staff.

Spring-summer draftee campaign started on April 1 and will continue till June 15, 2017. According to the planned target of the military registration and enlistment office of St. Petersburg, it is planned to recruit 3150 people during the time of the call-up.

During the whole period of the spring-summer draftee campaign, draftees and soldiers will be able to call on the hot line available on the web-site of the Commissioner in St. Petersburg.
