Dagestan Commissioner summed up housing and utilities sector hotline
From 1 to 27 April, an open hotline for the residents of the region on the protection of citizens' rights in the provision of public services was held at the initiative of Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Dagestan Ummupazil Omarova.
Among the received messages it is worth noting the statement of citizen M., connected with the unreasonable calculation of debts. The applicant, living in one of the emergency apartment buildings in Makhachkala, paid for water consumption at an increased rate due to the lack of a meter. However, in accordance with the law, apartment owners in emergency homes are exempted from the obligation to install meters.
Having carefully reviewed the application, Ummupazil Omarova appealed to the competent authorities. After the intervention of the Commissioner, the fee was revised without taking into account the increased ratio.
In addition, thanks to the intervention of the regional ombudsman, it was possible to restore the rights of a number of citizens to eliminate unreasonable debts for consumed electricity.
