Construction of bar on cultural heritage site in Volgograd Region called off
28 July 2015
An inspection initiated by Commissioner for Human Rights in Volgograd Region Valeriy Rostovschikov revealed serious violations during construction of a bar on a cultural heritage site in the centre of Volgograd.
Earlier, inhabitants of an apartment building being a cultural heritage site appealed to the Commissioner, since a bar was being illegally arranged in the basement of their dwelling.
The joint inspection conducted by the local prosecutor’s office and the Commissioner revealed that the major alterations conducted had not been duly authorised. So, an administrative offence report was drawn up against the bar’s owner, and a lawsuit was filed in court.
