Commissioner in Republic of Buryatia stopped closure of fire stations

The government of the Republic of Buryatia has considered the proposal of Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Buryatia Yulia Zhambalova and has taken measures to save the existing grouping of the State Firefighting Service. The reductions of the fire departments planned before are now not going to take place.
The Commissioner has found out about the abovementioned problem from the petitions of citizens who live in remote settlements of the republic. Citizens were worried given that in case of a fire only the central fire stations would handle the situation if the local departments were closed down. Due to the enormous distances of about 100 kilometers, which they would have to cover in some particular cases, quite a disturbing situation could arise.
In her request Yulia Zhambalova pointed out the intricate operational situation related to rural and forest fires. In their turn, the republic’s government agreed with her arguments. So, the reductions of the fire stations are canceled.
