Commissioner for Human Rights in the Moscow Region Ekaterina Semenova was addressed by a 46-year-old resident of the city Reutov. The applicant said that she had been in a difficult situation for several years. Her eldest son is a disabled person of the third group and cannot be employed. An eight year old junior has a mental illness that needs constant expensive treatment. T. herself, who was forced to take care of him, had not worked for a long time, had the status of unemployed. As a result, the claimant collected a lot of debts, the family fell into a heavy credit addiction, having accumulated an unbearable amount of about 700 thousand rubles.

T. wanted to go to court to declare herself bankrupt, but everything stopped at the application stage, since the woman did not have the funds that had to be deposited to the court — this is mandatory for the individual’s bankruptcy proceedings.

The Commissioner appealed to the local administration, where they found a way to provide the applicant with material assistance. As a result, the bankruptcy procedure was launched, and in November T’s debts were written off.

The woman thanked Ekaterina Semenova for participating in the fate of her family. According to the applicant, several months ago she was in despair and literally did not know who to go for help. Now she is gradually improving her life — she works part-time to take care of her son and helps her older child to search for work.
