On 22 September, Commissioner for Human Rights in Kamchatka Territory Irina Orlova visited Correctional Facility No. 5 of the Kamchatka Territory Directorate, the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.

The Commissioner held open office hours for prisoners, including those who had previously filed their complaints.

During the last visit to correctional facilities of Kamchatka in August 2015 a lot of complaints were received about the lack of food products and other goods in the facilities’ shops.

The inspection found out that the current situation has changed and the facility’s shop has been provided with a proper list of goods in a sufficient quantity. No complaints were received about the shop’s operation or the range of goods on the part of the prisoners.

Shops of other correctional facilities in the region are to be inspected in the near future.
