Altai Commissioner visited a boarding house for the elderly and disabled

On April 17, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Altai Territory Boris Larin visited the Krutikhinsky boarding house for the elderly and disabled of low capacity.
He got acquainted with the work of the institution, inspected the living quarters, the dining room, the library, communicated with the residents and serving staff. The ombudsman noted that normal conditions were created in the boarding house and elderly people were in good mood.
The concern of the ombudsman was caused by the low filling capacity of the institution. With an estimated number of 25, only 14 people live in a boarding house. The situation can be rectified, according to the Commissioner, by transferring the elderly from nearby private houses for the elderly (alternative institutions), with less favorable living conditions.
«We need to transfer people from there to state institutions where fire safety, decent food and medical services are provided," Boris Larin said.
At the end of the working trip, the regional Commissioner also visited the district department of social protection of the population, the Multifunctional Centers, the district library, the police department.
