On 23 July, a two-day working visit of High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova to Khabarovsk Territory ended.

On Thursday, 23 July, the High Commissioner took part in the meeting of the Coordination Council of Human Rights Commissioners in the Far East Federal District’s Territorial Entities of the Russian Federation.

Khabarovsk Territory Governor Vyacheslav Shport, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far East Federal District Andrei Motovilov, and Deputy Prosecutor General of Russia Yury Gulyagin also participated in the meeting. The discussion focused on coordinating actions between the human rights commissioners and state authorities, as well as prospects for the commissioner’s institute development in the region.

On 22 July, at the regional commissioner’s office Ms Pamfilova held open hours for public. The High Commissioner will personally follow up a complaint of two pensioners who, having been evicted from their dangerous dwelling, were left without any replacement housing.

Within the framework of the visit, the High Commissioner and members of the local Public Monitoring Commission visited the Correctional Facility No. 12 (FKU IK-12 UFSIN Russia) in Khabarovsk Territory, including the centre for social and psychological rehabilitation and preparation for release, and a branch of the Children’s Home, Medical and Social Unit No. 27, the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.

In addition, Ms Pamfilova visited the Regional Centre for Psychological and Medical Support, a regional state-run educational centre for children requiring psychological and medical assistance.
