Working trip to Sverdlovsk Region and Republic of Tatarstan
On 13–17 April, Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia Ella Pamfilova paid working visits to Sverdlovsk Region and the Republic of Tatarstan.
On 14–15 April, the Commissioner met with Sverdlovsk Region Governor Evgeny Kuivashev and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Urals Federal District Igor Kholmanskikh.
In the course of the visit to Sverdlovsk region, Ms Pamfilova took part in the meeting of the Coordination Council of human rights commissioners in territorial entities of the Urals Federal District of the Russian Federation. In addition, she visited a local mining and smelting enterprise and held meetings with representatives of the public monitoring committee (PMC) in Sverdlovsk region and human rights defenders.
Within the framework of her visit to the Republic of Tatarstan on 16–17 April, the Russian Human Rights Commissioner met with Acting President of the Republic Rustam Minnikhanov. Ms Pamfilova took part in the meeting of the Coordination Council of human rights commissioners in the Volga Federal District, visited socially valuable establishments of the region, and discussed pressing human rights issues with representatives of the regional PMC.
