On 16-17 December 2014, a session of the Coordination Council of Russian commissioners for human rights chaired by Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia Ella Pamfilova was held in Moscow.
Formation of an integrated human rights state protection system in Russia became the key issue of the meeting. In particular, participants in the session discussed main lines of joint activities, methods to enhance efficiency of cooperation among the commissioners, as well as opportunities to improve federal and regional legislation.
For the record, at present the institute of the commissioner for human rights functions in 81 regions of the Russian Federation. Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia Ella Pamfilova and Commissioner for Human Rights in Saint-Petersburg Alexander Shishlov are co-chairpersons of the Coordination Council of Russian commissioners for human rights (Mr Shishlov was elected as a co-chairperson by the members of the Coordination Council on 17 December 2014).
