The 5th Meeting of the Eurasian Ombudsman Alliance

On June 24, the 5th Meeting of the Eurasian Ombudsman Alliance dedicated to protecting the rights of persons with disabilities was held in Moscow under the chairmanship of High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova. The event was attended by the ombudspersons from Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Serbia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Iran, Tajikistan, representatives of international organizations and public authorities, the scientific and human rights community. The meeting was held in a combined format: in person and via videoconference.
The Russian Commissioner noted that the most important tool for increasing the effectiveness of protecting the rights of persons with disabilities is the development of interaction between state human rights defenders with authorities and civil society institutions, as well as foreign ombudspersons.
The federal ombudswoman also told her colleagues about the results achieved in protecting the rights of persons with disabilities. In particular, an agreement was signed with the Social Insurance Fund of the Russian Federation, which allowed to hold joint receptions of citizens.
