Tatiana Moskalkova’s speech at the World Festival of Youth and Students

Dear friends!

I greet you all here today in Sochi, in a beautiful renovated city resort at the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students, at the forum of the youth of the planet — the most representative in its history.

The International Festival of Youth and Students is already a good tradition, laid back in 1947, on the site of which there is an exchange of opinions and experiences. The role of this forum among the global human rights movement is constantly growing.

The slogan of the WFYS-2017 is "For peace, solidarity and social justice, — respecting our past, we are building our future!"

It is such powerful international platforms as the "Civil Development Platform" that allow us to jointly discuss and solve global problems, including the protection of human rights, and to develop human rights diplomacy.

In December 2016, as part of the annual message to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, our President Vladimir Putin spoke in favor of removing barriers to the development of volunteerism and providing all-round assistance to socially-oriented non-profit organizations. "The will and generosity of citizens who participate in such projects form Russia’s much-needed atmosphere of common goals, create enormous social potential that must be demanded," the President stressed.

From the ancient times, young people «rotated» the wheel of history. The Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky defeated the Swedes at the mouth of Izhora at the age of 19; Peter the Great became a tzar at the age of 17, and at the age of 35 years he defeated the Swedes near Poltava; the strike pilot Talgat Begeldinov at the age of 23 became twice Hero of the Soviet Union, after making 305 mission sorties in 500 hours.

Today, Russia is proud of many young successful managers, politicians, businessmen, officials, leaders of public organizations that lead large and small teams and propel our country forward.
