Tatiana Moskalkova: 18 cases were initiated on disappearance of people in Chechen Republic

On September 20, High Commissioner for human rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova reported that a criminal case will be opened for each appeal related to the incomprehensible disappearance of people in the republic.

"There are criminal cases here, there are investigations of 18 out of 31 people on the list," the High Commissioner said, noting that there is information on the two that they died a natural death.

"Yesterday I asked, persistently, especially the Investigation Department for the North Caucasus Federal District, for every appeal related to the incomprehensible disappearance of people missing, to initiate criminal proceedings and conduct an investigation," Moskalkova added.

Earlier, she reported that an employee of the Office of the High Commissioner would remain in the region to check all materials and to find out the fate of each of those mentioned in the publications.

The High Commissioner also intends to meet with two residents of Chechen Republic, who previously appeared in the publications as dead.
