Single Election Day monitoring

On 14 September representatives of the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia will be monitoring law compliance during the elections in twenty regions, where the highest risk of infringements is expected.

This was announced on 10 September by Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia Ella Pamfilova at the meeting of the Central Election Committee of the RF focused on the preparation to the elections. Ms Pamfilova added she was expecting the regional commissioners to cooperate actively and side by side with the local election commissions.

The main objective of the monitoring is to enhance quality of detecting and preventing possible infringements.

The election toll-free number +7 910 460 90 25 will be available on 14 September to receive information about violations of civil rights and public order.

The monitoring will be held along with the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs with the assistance of the Central Election Commission of Russia. At the video conference meeting, chairman of the commission Vladimir Churov urged all heads of regional election commissions to support regional human rights ombudspersons and provide them with “free access to the election commissions of all levels and to all information in any form”.
