Results of High Commissioner’s working trip to Geneva

The participation of High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova in the 34th session of the UN Human Rights Council and the 30th Annual Meeting of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI), as well as the joing of the High Commissioner’s Office to the European Network of GANHRI is an essential development of international cooperation.

"We place high hopes on the opportunities to promote and protect human rights through interaction with these international organizations," Tatiana Moskalkova said.

The 34th session of the UN Human Rights Council allowed the High Commissioner to express her stand on the issues of children’s rights, as well as to share positive experience and best practices with the world community.

In addition, contacts with ombudsmen from different countries, including Ukraine, Armenia and Lithuania were strengthened during bilateral meetings. These communications will allow the High Commissioner to help people more efficeintly.

In cooperation with the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the possibility of the High Commissioner’s participation in programs to prevent discrimination in the framework of the 2018 Football World Cup in Russia and holding of UN human rights standards trainings for experts are being considered.

The accreditation status of «A» in the GANHRI system will allow the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation to submit comments on Russia’s reports to the UN Committees on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, Social, Economic and Cultural rights, as well as the Rights
